I comment on life, work, love, liberty, recipes, the weather, relationships, art, politics, religion, controversial topics, the pursuit of happiness.  This is a lifestyle blog. My posts do tend to cluster around the poetic, religion/spirituality, dance, and food.

The word ikigai is Japanese for the reason for living, for being.  In the Western tradition few people have a raison d’être, and when they do they often have an all consuming passion that can be detrimental to a “normal” life.  However, in the Japanese culture everyone has an ikigai. Wikipedia succinctly says: “Finding it requires a deep and often lengthy search of self. Such a search is regarded as being very important, since it is believed that discovery of one’s ikigai brings satisfaction and meaning to life.”

Combine ikigai with the idea of dance.  When I look at life I see the dance, whether it be the molecules jumping around in the boiling hot water, the cadence of our step, the pulse of blood surging in our veins…Life is dance and dancing is living.

Hence, ikigaidance.
